Frequently asked questions

No. Eligible Kenyan accounts can buy SMS credits without a WhatsApp or Android plan. International customers can use WhatsApp and Android Gateway subject to their plan and local service availability.

CommsGrid SMS Gateway sends to Kenyan phone numbers only. WhatsApp Web and Android Gateway are available to international customers, subject to plan eligibility, device and SIM support, carrier coverage, and regional service availability.

SMS Gateway sends to Kenyan destinations using separately purchased credits. Android Gateway sends through a paired phone SIM and can serve international customers where their plan, device, SIM, and carrier support it. Carrier charges may apply.

Android Gateway access requires an active plan that includes the Android module. After access is enabled, you pair a supported Android phone and send through its SIM. Your mobile provider may charge for SMS, data, or other network use.

CommsGrid SMS Gateway is available to Kenyan accounts. New accounts receive 2 starter credits; sending beyond those credits uses separately purchased SMS credits. Current volume tiers and minimum top-up are shown on the pricing page and in your account, where live rates are authoritative.

WhatsApp access requires an active plan that includes the WhatsApp module. After activating it, open the WhatsApp setup page and follow the connection method available in your account, such as scanning a QR code or entering the required Cloud API credentials. Complete setup before sending; module access by itself does not connect a phone number.
